Electrical Device Replacement & Advice
Troubleshooting and replacement of outlets, switches, and light fixtures. Electrician referral.
Service Description
Initial in-person meeting is free of charge. Once hired, my standard labour rate of $60/hour. This includes all time worked, meeting & communicating with clients and their building tenants, travelling to and from the job site, travelling to and from hardware stores and my home, on-site work, and cleaning up. I also charge for my time to produce design sketches, plans and project estimates. I aim to be as efficient as possible. Most project work is completed on-site but some prep work may also be done off-site ahead of time. For work locations that require travel outside of the Peterborough city limits, a 62.5 cent/km travel charge will be applied from my office to the worksite and for any additional related travel (to hardware stores, etc). I try my best to give an accurate idea of the estimated cost of time and materials. Materials are provided to you at cost. There is no markup. Excess materials in returnable condition will be returned with the savings passed on to the client before invoicing. Unused and waste material such as lumber end-cuts, extra flooring etc. will be disposed of unless you wish to keep them. Please let me know ahead of time or during construction if you want to keep the leftover material. Note on Electrical Work: As a Electronics Systems Engineering Technologist with over 15-years of experience maintaining and repairing Canadian federal electronic systems and related buildings and power systems, I am comfortable working on an array of electrical systems including residential home electrical circuits. I have pulled at least half a dozen permits under my own name for full service entry (underground and overhead) and interior electrical installs for my own homes and properties. I stay up-to-date on code changes and I am confident in my understanding and ability, however, I am not Electrical Trade-certified, and do not hold a Journeyman's Electrical Qualification, and thus I am limited in my insured liability as to what I can perform comfortably. I will recommend and refer clients to qualified electricians for most electrical renovation that requires installing new circuits, wiring changes or when aluminum wire is discovered. I am insured as Home Repair Technician. Thank you kindly for your consideration and interest, Ryan Paquette
